What is Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation?
The Chao Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation is a fast and effective procedure that corrects gum recession by straightening or correcting receding or uneven gum lines near the the crown of the tooth. The gums are repaired without the use of traditional surgery such as grafting, stitching and/or cutting.
Why is it Needed?
Gum recession is when gum tissue pulls away from the surfaces of teeth, exposing the roots of the teeth. Initial signs of gum recession include increased tooth sensitivity, and the appearance of elongated teeth. Receding gum tissue is generally the result of advanced, untreated gum disease, also known as periodontal disease. Other causes include aggressive tooth brushing, poor oral hygiene, medications, orthodontic treatments, a strong, uneven bite, and of course genetics.
Performing Pinhole Rejuvenation

What Can I Expect During Pinhole Rejuvenation?
First, the affected teeth are cleaned. A local anesthetic is applied to numb the area to be treated. A small entry point is made in the gum above the tooth, and then a special dental instrument is used to massage the gums gently into their ideal position.
Next, collagen is placed under the gums to keep them in place.
Is It Painful?
It is a minimally invasive procedure and takes very little time to perform. Any potential discomfort is staved off with a local anesthetic to numb the area prior to the surgery. Bonus: no downtime needed for recovery!
